Last weekend when Taurus season began, my partner and I spent a lot of money on plants. Everybody was showing off pretty flowers on the internet and I discovered that you can look up flora by taking pictures with your i-phone. Now I can confidently say my favorite tree in our backyard is a Japanese Maple.
All the metaphors and literal things you can say about Taurus season are happening right now. Seeds are being planted and the ground is moist. The recent Jupiter / Uranus conjunction in Taurus is silent in the background birthing as we speak. Ideas are born over night. Earthly things take time to incubate. But pieces of the big picture will start coming into focus if you close your eyes and listen to the wind in the trees.
Here are some of my thoughts on the Astrology of May…
Stationing Pluto in Aquarius Square Venus in Taurus (May 1-4)
Getting to the root of something might prove to be uncomfortable. Standing up for what is right doesn’t always feel good. Purge anyway. Speaking truth to power is needed now more than ever.
New Moon in Taurus Sextile Saturn in Pisces (May 7)
This new moon in Taurus comes to us in the middle of what up until now has been a very active and loud Taurus season.
Venus is in Taurus, her home sign where she is concerned with love, peace, harmony, and stability. She can be a bull when these things are out of balance and with her recent square to Pluto, she’s entering this new moon bruised.
Within 8 degrees of the Sun, Venus is combust and in Mercury’s terms. Her voice is being muffled.
This new moon in Taurus is sextile Saturn in Pisces. Jupiter, the ruler of Pisces, is in Taurus but in Saturn’s terms. The one who traditionally has had the power is the loudest in the room right now. Conditions are being communicated but they seem to be leaning towards familiar territory. A place we have been trying to move past. Integrity and commitment must go hand in hand.
In many ways, this may feel like we are trying to workshop new ideas in old structures. The building is coming down but only piece by piece. It’s a rocky path but a path nonetheless. Patience and possessing the ability to be mutable might prove helpful.
Venus wont catch up with the Sun until early June but when she does, the two of them will be in Gemini, co-present with Mercury, the planet of communication and ruler of Gemini.
The Venus Cazimi will be in Venus’s terms, so she will get her way eventually. Until then, take in the process and all of its lessons.
Uranus Cazimi in Taurus (May 13)
Wake up! Electricity is present. Change is challenging. Adjust accordingly.
Mercury in Taurus (May 15)
Mercury ingresses into Taurus and almost immediately squares Pluto in Aquarius. Penetrating discussions and challenging ideas can feel like an endless battle but are necessary to get to new ground.
Jupiter Cazimi in Taurus / Mars Conjunct the North Node in Aries (May 18)
There’s a new sense of hope where things had recently felt challenging and too bright. Forward momentum moves our story into new territory. With feet to the fire, new worlds are possible.
Full Moon in Sagittarius Trine Pluto in Aquarius (May 23)
As we enter Gemini season, the star of the month, Venus, is conjunct Jupiter in Taurus, our ruler of this full moon. Venus has a story to tell and it’s big. But there may be some obstructions as the beams of the Sun shine too bright. She’s coming forward anyway. Walking into Gemini season with sunglasses on. It will be messy but captivating. It will be a grand tale about love, loss, and control. Who has it and who doesn’t.
Jupiter in Gemini (May 26)
Jupiter ingresses into Gemini on May 26th where it will live until June of next year. Whatever sign Jupiter inhabits, the themes of that sign become amplified. Jupiter expands. In Gemini, expect to see themes around children, education, transportation, and pure clownery taking up space. I will expound on this with Jupiter in Gemini Horoscopes for each rising sign, coming soon…
